1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to recognize you and remember things like your sign-in status or your preferences. Similar technologies โ€” including localStorage, sessionStorage, and HTTP-only authentication tokens โ€” perform the same kinds of functions, and we treat them together for the purposes of this policy.

2. How Vita uses cookies & local storage

Vita uses a deliberately small set of cookies and storage entries โ€” only what's needed to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and keep the Service running securely. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking cookies, or third-party marketing pixels.

3. Categories of cookies we use

Strictly necessary

These are required to operate the Service and cannot be turned off without breaking core functionality.

  • Authentication tokens (set by Supabase) โ€” keep you signed in to your account.
  • Session and security tokens โ€” protect against cross-site request forgery and similar attacks.

Preferences

These remember the choices you make so the Service behaves the way you expect.

  • vita-theme (localStorage) โ€” remembers whether you've selected light or dark mode on vitafood.app.

Analytics

We may use a privacy-respecting analytics tool (such as Vercel Analytics) to understand aggregate, anonymized usage patterns โ€” page views, performance metrics, and similar. This data does not identify individual users and is not sold or shared with advertisers.

4. Third-party cookies

When you interact with certain features, third-party services may set their own cookies on your device. The most common are:

  • Stripe โ€” sets cookies during checkout to process payments and prevent fraud. See Stripe's cookie policy.
  • Supabase โ€” sets authentication cookies as part of the sign-in flow.

We do not use advertising or social-media tracking cookies on Vita.

5. Managing your preferences

You can control cookies through your browser settings โ€” most browsers let you block all cookies, block third-party cookies, or delete cookies that have been set. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in to your Vita account.

You can also clear your preferences cookie (vita-theme) by clearing site data for vitafood.app in your browser. The next time you visit, Vita will use the default theme until you set a new preference.

If you are in a jurisdiction that requires opt-in consent for non-essential cookies and we deploy any in the future, we will present a consent banner allowing you to make that choice.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent version. Material changes will be communicated through an in-app or in-site notice.
